My Story | My “Why.”
Just moments after my daughter’s birth and 28 hours of labor, including gestational hypertension during labor, I was handed my newborn with just one instruction: Figure out how to breastfeed your baby. I did not have a lactation consultant, a doula, or any prior training to know what to do. Because it was during the global COVID-19 pandemic, we could not take any birthing classes, and our mothers could not be present at the delivery to support me.
I was terrified, but I took several deep breaths. I thought about all the birthing people that came before me. I thought about their wisdom on how to nurture. They may not have had any formal education on birthing either, but they made it. They figured it out, and so did I. I breastfed my daughter for a year and set out to help other families deliver and care for their babies easily and safely.
I started Birthing the Empress Within to help birthing people prepare for one of the greatest rites of passage across all time. My work is to help empower others to birth their inner empress. The work of the Empress is to build an empire and a legacy of love that will expand for generations.
My passion is to empower people to nurture themselves and rise energetically as they birth babies into the world. My many years of experience in healthcare operations and my work as a doula/life coach offer me the tangible skills to provide care and understanding during one of the most important moments in our lives.
